Ranking the NFL’s Best Quarterbacks
With the 2016 football season just around the corner, every football fan is getting itchy for the season to begin. It is almost time to get our favorite jerseys and snacks out to watch Sunday night football.
We all know that the quarterback is an essential part of a football team. It is almost impossible to give a 100% accurate ranking of the 2016 season quarterbacks. With some help of recent news on their offseason practices and with the help of fantasypros.com, I can give you an idea of how they rank going into the 2016 season. I did make two revisions, click on the link for the whole list!
1.Aaron Rodgers-Green Bay Packers
2015 was an ‘off’ season for Aaron Rodgers with missing Jordy Nelson. Now as the 2016 season approaches and Jordy Nelson return, he is expected to bounce back from his rough 2015 season. I moved him to #1 because I believe with some of the great plays he made last season (yes, last season he had few plays, but there were some great ones) and now with Jordy Nelson back, he will be the number one quarterback to look out for this season. I have no doubt he leads the Packers to the playoffs.
2.Cam Newton-Carolina Panthers
I switched him from #1 to #2 for a reason. Cam Newton had a great 2015 season. Though, it has been reported that he seems a bit shaky this offseason, according to the Charlotte Observer. I didn’t rank him lower on the list because of his 2015 season. Sources are also saying that he needs a month in training to shake off the rust. Only time will tell where he should be ranked this 2016 season.
3.Russell Wilson-Seattle Sehawks
He has won 46 regular season games. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said he was making a clear step ahead this offseason. He said Wilson has been strong, accurate and precise, and has been having a great offseason. Things are looking good for him the coming up 2016 season.
4.Andrew Luck-Indianapolis Colts
Andrew Luck missed 9 games last season and has now fully healed. His teammates are confident in him. He stated he has gotten better as a thrower and a quarterback both physically and mentally. With Luck being free of injuries this season he is a quarterback to look out for this season.
5.Drew Brees-New Orleans Saints
He has averaged 7.8 yards per attempt and had 10 games of over 300 yards passing. The Saints were plagued by injuries last year, and the only thing that kept them going was Drew Brees. No, he isn’t getting any younger, but that doesn’t mean he can’t play. He shows no sign of slowing down over the years.
6.Ben Roethlisberger-Pittsburg Steelers
Roethlisberger holds numerous career franchise passing records. Some people say he doesn’t deserve to be ranked in the top ten quarterback list for 2016, but Roethlisberger does belong on this list. The 2015 season was Big Ben’s best season yet. He has gotten a lot trimmer this offseason, which could be a good thing for him. It doesn’t hurt that he has one of the best wide receivers to throw to.
7.Carson Palmer-Arizona Cardinals
He has voted to the second-team All-Pro squad. Palmer’s 2015 season was a stellar one. Experts are even calling it an MVP-level season. He will also be a quarterback to look out for this season due to the fact that he is more than ready to win the Superbowl this season. Now that he has one of the top running backs in the game in the backfield, the field is more open than before.
8.Blake Bortles-Jacksonville Jaguars
Bortles is looking to enhance his franchise-record of 35 touchdowns from last season. The Jaguars’ coach, Gus Bradley stated that Bortles has had his best offseason. Bradley also stated Bortles is always looking to become a better player and leader.
9.Eli Manning-New York Giants
Eli Manning is always a quarterback you should look out for. His football career is impressive. He hasn’t missed a start in 11 years. He is the franchise leader in attempts, completions, passing yards, touchdown passes, and interceptions.
10.Tom Brady-New England Patriots
This is another change from the list on fantasypros.com. Tom Brady does belong in the top 10 quarterback rankings for 2016. This 11-time Pro-Bowl quarterback has 4,770 yards passing and 36 touchdowns.
11.Phillip Rivers-San Diego Chargers
13.Tony Romo-Dallas Cowboys
14.Andy Dalton-Cincinnati Bengals
16.James Winston-Tampa Bay Buccaneers
17.Kirk Cousins-Washington Redskins
18.Tyrod Taylor-Buffalo Bills
19.Matthew Stafford-Detroit Lions
20.Ryan Tannehill-Miami Dolphins
